Men’s VL2R vs St Bedes | 1-0 WIN | G.Hall
As is typical in Melbourne, the VL2 Reserves had neither sun nor rain to play in – just grey skies, but the result was far from grey!
It was an impressive return to hockey by Mullett who quickly got back into playing with some strong play at the back, moving the ball forward and helping to keep St Bedes away from the goals. The younger players also played well, with at least 4 junior players debuting in the VL2 Reserve team.
Knox dominated the game, communicated well and moved the ball around quickly, often frustrating the opposition – a reason for a number of St Bedes players receiving cards. Knox was not immune to the cards, but they were a different colour – a slightly greener shade. A little quiet in goals, Joshua did manage to save the only shot St Bedes had at him. Their goal keeper was not so lucky when Nobby scored the only goal for the game.
